At Ink Dish we bring the talents of contemporary artists to a new medium by creating beautiful, functional dinnerware. In doing so we get to partner with some really inspiring retailers. At the top of that list is the shop at the Walker Art Center. The Walker is a contemporary art center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is considered one of the nation’s “big five” museums for modern art along with the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and the Hirshhorn.
We love working with museums because we all speak to the same people. Our customers love design. They love art. They love typography. They love fashion. They love creativity. The Walker’s mission is to be: “a catalyst for the creative expression of artists and the active engagement of audiences, examines the questions that shape and inspire us as individuals, cultures, and communities.” – I wish I had said that.
The next time you viist the twin cities, The Walker Art Center is on a 17 acre urban campus that includes both buildings and parks. If you get there before November 29th you can go see Dirt on Delight: Impulses That Form Clay. Our molded clay hasn’t made it inside any museum exhibitions yet, but we’re trying… In the meantime you can see Impulses That Form Clay in the museum and our functional adaptation of clay in the Walker’s shop.

We had such a great response to our survey and corresponding raffle that we decided to do another giveaway. This time, not only do you get a prize – but your three coolest friends do too.
Here’s how it works: After October 17th we will randomly draw one winner. The winner gets a service for one (dinner plate, side plate, bowl, and mug) in any one of our Paul Timman tattoo inspired patterns. Plus, they get to pick three friends to receive the same prize!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey to choose our new designs. If you did not participate in the last survey and would like to be a part of the next round, email dave@inkdish.com and we’ll add you to the list. We release new designs every six months so there’ll be plenty more.
To say thanks to all who participated we put everyone who entered their email into a sweepstake to win a gift set of Ink Dish side plates.
The winner is:
Jason Holland of Toronto, Canada
RAFFLE Q&A
Wait a second, didn’t I just read about Jason Holland in your blog?
Yes you did. Jason (www.elevendesign.net) is the Irish born Scandinavian graphic designer living in Toronto who designed the Ink Dish logo, the original website, and did the recent redesign.
The fix is in.. Don’t you think it looks a bit fishy that your web designer won the raffle?
Yes. I can see how it looks that way but I assure you it was all above board.
I don’t believe you. This is &^%$#*&^!!!
We had 99 people enter the raffle. We took all of their emails and put them in an Excel spreadsheet. Then we went to www.random.org and set up a random number generator to choose a number between 1 and 99. The website spit out 48. Jason Holland was the 48th row in the Excel spreadsheet and was thus the winner.
I still don’t believe you.
I tell you what. We are going to do another sweepstake coming up and you are welcome to enter again. Details to come.
P.S to the one person who entered “Yes” as their email address we are happy you wanted to be included in the sweepstake but, unfortunately, we can’t read minds and thus had to disqualify you.

The sound is a little soft in this video but it is a great piece on the history of Sunset Strip Tattoo, where Paul Timman works. Check it out and see what Paul does in his day job when he is not creating cool dinnerware sets.

Tribal Lines is featured in the ‘Cash and Carry’ section of this months Inked Magazine. Inked is a really cool read. With a readership of over 100K it is more of a style, art, and culture mag then a pure tattoo magazine. They have a clever feature on their website where you can read the current issue online, you just have to surrender your e mail and zip code check it out here
“Eat This – You need dishes even if most of your meals come wrapped in paper or stuffed in Styrofoam containers. Tattoo artist Paul Timman known for inking celebs such as Angelina Jolie and Mark Wahlberg at Sunset Strip Tattoo, in Hollywood, collaborated with Ink Dish to create these tattooed dishes… That double bacon cheeseburger never looked better.”
